The Indian ODI group reported by MSK Prasad-drove determination panel for the Australia and New Zealand arrangement with five months to go for the 2019 World Cup prompted two deductions - that MS Dhoni would be India's No.1 wicket-manager at the world occasion and that Rishab Pant would miss the flight.

Yet, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar does not discount the likelihood of the dynamic left-hander, Pant returning into the plan of things near the World Cup. Be that as it may, not to the detriment of Dhoni.

"If Rishab Pant does well and keeps his form, he can find a place for his batting. He is a left-handed batsman and that helps add variety to the batting line-up. So although Pant is not picked for the ODIs currently, if he does exceedingly well in T20Is, he could come back,".

Gavaskar is persuaded that India's 2011 World Cup-winning commander merits another go at the uber occasion. "Dhoni has the enormous match disposition. As a manager, he is a major help to chief Kohli as far as field arrangements and bowlers' execution input. So he is fundamental. Also, since the World Cup 2019 will be his last, he ought to be given the respect and acknowledgment for every one of the administrations he has offered with a World Cup put," he included.

The main way Pant can return is instead of Dinesh Karthik or KL Rahul. Rahul's Test cricket battles and absence of match time in one-day cricket has not helped the once familiar stroke player's certainty. Gavaskar is astonished the selectors picked him.

"Rahul's selection is a surprise. It's ok to pick him for T20Is because he has got runs in the IPL. But as far as one-day cricket goes, he hasn't played much at all. Maybe they have kept him as a back up if one of the openers were to be injured," he said.
India is scheduled to play three ODIs vs Australia next followed by five vs New Zealand; all away games before Australia comes home for a five-match ODI series.
It's in that home series against Australia that the selectors need to plug a couple of missing "We have to bear in mind where the World Cup is happening. It's happening in England and so you will need another seaming all-rounder. That's what can give the team a better balance," he said. holes, opines Gavaskar.
